Product Introduction
Abec L Tablet
Abec L Tablet is an antiretroviral medication containing Abacavir and Lamivudine. Both active constituents belong to the class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and are used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs as part of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) or combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). It is indicated for the treatment of HIV-1 infection.
HIV-1 is the Human immunodeficiency virus, which targets immune system cells and weakens the body's defence against infections. Left untreated, it can result in death. While Abec L Tablet does not offer cure, it reduces virus levels in the body and increases CD4 cell counts in the bloodstream. CD4 cells play a crucial role in assisting the body's defence against infections.
Abec L Tablet is usually administered with other medicines to treat HIV infection. Combining Abec L Tablet with didanosine is not advisable, as it may increase the risk of didanosine toxicity.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you have liver disease, including hepatitis B or C, kidney disease, heart problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or are overweight. Do not share personal items such as razors or toothbrushes with others. Breastfeeding should be avoided.
Administration of this medicine can potentially result in lactic acidosis, involving accumulation of acid in the bloodstream. In patients with advanced HIV infection and severely compromised immune systems, initiating antiretroviral therapy including Abec L Tablet may lead to an inflammatory response known as immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome. Close monitoring is necessary in such cases.

How it works
