Product Introduction

Abhayrab Vaccine is a Purified Vero Cell Rabies vaccine indicated for prevention and treatment of rabies before and after exposure to the virus. The vaccine is manufactured by cultivating the rabies virus in Vero cells, followed by purification to remove unwanted substances. The purified virus is then inactivated, rendering it unable to cause disease while retaining capacity to stimulate an immune response. Pre-exposure vaccination is recommended for travellers, individuals in high-risk occupations, and children residing in rabies-prone areas. Post-exposure prophylaxis comprises prompt wound management and vaccination. Abhayrab Vaccine is prepared from the Pitman-Moore strain of the Rabies virus cultivated in Vero cells. Rabies is an acute, progressive disease caused by the rabies virus, which belongs to the Rhabdoviridae family. Transmission occurs through saliva of infected animals following bites or scratches. Although rabies infection is 100% fatal, it is 100% preventable with timely intervention and appropriate use of available vaccines, immunoglobulins, or monoclonal antibodies. Patients with known hypersensitivity to Abhayrab Vaccine or its components should not receive this vaccine. If a patient is currently experiencing moderate to severe illness, vaccination may be deferred until recovery. However, mild illness such as a common cold typically does not preclude vaccination.

Uses

Abhayrab Vaccine is used in the following: Immunization before possible exposure to rabies Post-exposure treatment after exposure to a suspected rabid animal Prevention of infection for high-risk people (veterinarians, municipal workers, medical and paramedical workers)

How it works

The Abhayrab Vaccine works by introducing inactivated rabies virus particles to the body. This exposure triggers an immune response, producing specific antibodies that recognize and target the rabies virus. If a vaccinated person subsequently encounters the virus, their immune system is primed to recognize and neutralize it quickly, preventing it from causing it.

How to Use

The Abhayrab Vaccine is typically given as a series, with the exact schedule determined by healthcare professionals based on factors such as age, health status, and risk of exposure to rabies. The vaccines are usually given in the upper arm for adults and older children or in the thigh muscles for infants and young children.

Side Effects

The Abhayrab Vaccine cause some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious: Anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reaction) Common: Pain Swelling Pruritus at the site of injection Fever Shivering Fainting Headache Dizziness Muscle pain Nausea Vomiting Stomach pain Dry mouth
