Product Introduction
ActiveD Tablet contains calcitriol as its active ingredient. It is indicated in conditions related to calcium and phosphorus metabolism, including hypocalcaemia (low blood calcium), hypoparathyroidism (reduced parathyroid hormone secretion), chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia (bone softening), psoriasis, and secondary hyperparathyroidism. The medication helps regulate serum calcium and phosphorus levels and supports bone health and bodily functions. It is also used to manage parathyroid hormone levels and related complications. Additional reported benefits include support for immune function, cardiovascular health, diabetes management, mood regulation, muscle strength, and autoimmune conditions.
Calcitriol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its formulation components. It should be avoided in patients with hypercalcaemia (elevated blood calcium), vitamin D toxicity, malabsorption syndromes, and elevated vitamin D metabolite levels.
In paediatric patients, calcitriol is used for rickets and growth-related bone disorders. In older adults, it may be used to support bone health and reduce fracture risk. Dosage and clinical monitoring require careful management by healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective use across these age groups.
