Acutrol 400mg Tablet

Categories: Nephrology

Conditions: Kidney Disease

Product Introduction

Acutrol 400mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Sevelamer, a phosphate binder. It is used to manage hyperphosphatemia (elevated blood phosphate levels) in adult patients on dialysis (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) and in patients with chronic kidney disease who have raised serum phosphorus levels. Use should be combined with other treatments, including calcium supplements and vitamin D, to help prevent bone disease. Elevated blood phosphorus can lead to calcification, wherein calcium deposits accumulate and harden blood vessel walls, potentially compromising blood flow.

Do not take Acutrol 400mg Tablet if you are allergic to Sevelamer or any ingredient in the formulation. Avoid this medicine if you have low phosphate levels or bowel obstruction.

Inform your doctor before starting treatment if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you have difficulty swallowing or if your stomach and bowel have impaired motility. Also inform your doctor if you have current bowel inflammation or a history of major gastric or bowel surgery.

Acutrol 400mg Tablet is not recommended for children under six years of age, as safety and efficacy data in this age group are insufficient.

If your doctor has identified a sugar intolerance in you, consult your doctor before taking this medication, as it contains lactose.
