Adripeg 50mg Injection

Adripeg 50mg Injection is an anticancer medication belonging to the class of anthracycline topoisomerase inhibitors. It contains doxorubicin encapsulated within a closed lipid sphere (liposome) coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG). This PEG coating enhances drug circulation in the bloodstream, enabling delivery to cancerous cells rather than healthy tissue. The medication is indicated as monotherapy for patients with metastatic breast cancer with elevated cardiac risk from conventional doxorubicin, ovarian cancer, and AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma, and in combination therapy for multiple myeloma (plasma cell cancer). Do not use this medication if you are allergic to pegylated liposomal doxorubicin or its components, or to pea and soy products. Use is not recommended in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. It may be used in paediatric patients with dosage adjustments based on age and body weight. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is not recommended during pregnancy or while nursing. Effective contraception should be used during treatment and for at least six months after the final dose. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin may cause heart disease. The drug should be administered with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, and cardiac function should be monitored regularly during therapy. Inform your doctor if you are receiving medications for heart or liver disorders, have diabetes, Kaposi's sarcoma, or oral problems before taking this injection. Disclose all medications, including herbal products, over-the-counter medicines, and supplements to your physician.

Polyethylene glycol (PEG)-coated liposomes allow enhanced tumor targeting and selective drug release within cancer cells. Doxorubicin, once internalized by cancer cells, intercalates into DNA strands and inhibits transcription and DNA replication, as well as disrupting the topoisomerase II enzymes that are important in DNA repair processes. This causes cancer cells to undergo apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, and DNA damage. Furthermore, doxorubicin produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), which exacerbates oxidative stress and accelerates the death of tumor cells. The unique formulation process of Liposomal Doxorubicin Injection increases the time this medicine is circulating in the blood. It also helps deliver drugs from blood to the cancerous tissue rather than the healthy tissue.

Your doctor will give you an infusion injection (drip) of Adripeg 50mg Injection into a vein. This could take anywhere from 30 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the dosage and condition. Your dose and frequency of administration will be decided by your physician based on your disease condition and other factors. It will be given to you by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer.

It is not recommended to use this drug if you are allergic to the active compound pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and its components. It is also not recommended for use if you are allergic to products like pea and soy. Blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and liver and kidney function should be monitored regularly while taking this medication. Don't stop this medication without the proper advice of the doctor. It is recommended to monitor your liver, heart and lung functions during the treatment course. Avoid making plans for pregnancy or during pregnancy, as this medication can cause harmful effects on the developing baby. It is recommended to use effective contraceptive measures during the treatment and up to 8 months after the treatment has been withdrawn. Avoid driving after taking this medication because it causes dizziness and lack of concentration. The drug may cause decreased bone marrow activity. Monitoring complete blood counts regularly during therapy and watching for infections is advisable.To manage the treatment related to diarrhoea it is recommended to drink at least 3 litres of water and it is advised to wear masks and stay indoors as this medication lowers the blood cell count that may decrease the immunity.
