Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Afatinib dimaleate or any of its components. This medicine is not recommended for female patients weighing less than 50 kilograms. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended; seek medical advice regarding any concerns. Inform your doctor if you have a history of eye problems or use contact lenses. Minimise sun exposure, as this medicine may increase skin sensitivity to sunlight. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Do not discontinue this medicine without medical consultation. Inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney disorders, breathing difficulties, liver disorders, heart problems, or sugar intolerance. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all medications you are currently taking, have recently taken, or intend to take, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal preparations.
Uses
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor mutations Metastatic non-small cell lung cancer progressing after platinum-based chemotherapy
How it works
It functions by inhibiting the ErbB family of proteins, which includes EGFR (also known as the epidermal growth factor receptor, or ErbB1, ErbB2, ErbB3, and ErbB4) and HER2. Changes in the genes that create these proteins can impact how cancer cells multiply and disseminate. By inhibiting these proteins and their activities, this medication can prevent the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. It can help to slow or stop the progression of cancer.
How to Use
Afamac 30mg Tablet is an oral medication that is usually taken once a day, at approximately the same time each day, before food. If you have already eaten, wait at least 3 hours before taking this medicine. It should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. These tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. They should not be crushed, chewed, or opened, as this can affect how the medication is absorbed and decrease its effectiveness. If your next planned dose is more than eight hours away, take the missed dose as soon as you recall. You should not take a double dose to make up for the second dose.
