Product Introduction
Alcysta tablet contains two active ingredients: N-Acetylcysteine and Taurine. It is indicated in the treatment of diabetic kidney disease, a condition that can develop as a consequence of diabetes or sudden elevation in blood glucose levels. If untreated, diabetic kidney disease may progress to kidney failure. This medication is commonly used to treat lung diseases including chronic bronchitis, as it facilitates breakdown and thinning of mucus in the airways, enabling easier expectoration. Additionally, N-Acetylcysteine provides protective activity against certain pharmaceutical agents, such as paracetamol (acetaminophen), by helping to prevent hepatic damage caused by overdose or toxicity. This drug is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to it or its components. Concurrent use of Alcysta tablets with topical antibiotics for relief of dry eye syndrome should be avoided. Combining this medication with topical antibiotics may increase the risk of severe adverse reactions. It is important to consult your physician to determine appropriate treatment options for keratoconjunctivitis and dry eye syndrome. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients experiencing a severe and sudden asthma attack. Patients with asthma should be closely monitored during treatment with this medication. Notify your physician if you develop any associated symptoms. Inform your doctor of any cardiac, thyroid, renal, or hepatic disease. Your physician may prescribe a low dose and perform regular blood tests. Use of Alcysta tablets during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally not recommended unless medically necessary.
Uses
Treatment of diabetic kidney disease
How it works
N-Acetylcysteine and Taurine work by slowing down the process of kidney cell damage and improving kidney function. These tablets are particularly beneficial in preventing the progression of microalbuminuria (the presence of small amounts of albumin in the urine) in patients with diabetic kidney disease.
How to Use
Take the Alcysta Tablet as your physician has advised. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the tablet if your doctor advises you to stop.
Side Effects

Expert Tips
If you have diabetes, regularly monitor your blood sugar levels while taking the medication, as it may interfere with your blood glucose levels. Ensure you maintain adequate hydration throughout the treatment, as both Alcysta tablets may impact fluid balance in the body. If the medication is part of a broader treatment plan for diabetic kidney disease or other conditions, follow any lifestyle changes your physician recommends, such as dietary modifications and exercise routines.
