Product Introduction
Alphadol 0.25 contains the active ingredient Alfacalcidol, a vitamin supplement medication used to treat various conditions requiring adjustment of calcium levels in the body. It is primarily indicated for osteodystrophy (bone structural changes caused by kidney failure), hyperparathyroidism (elevated blood calcium due to overactive parathyroid glands), hypoparathyroidism (low blood calcium due to underactive parathyroid glands), hypocalcaemia (reduced blood calcium levels) in newborn infants, and rickets or osteomalacia (bone deformity resulting from calcium deficiency).
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to Alfacalcidol or any component of the formulation. Patients with kidney disorders, including kidney stones, require special monitoring and possible dosage adjustments. Your doctor must assess your kidney function and establish an appropriate dose. Alphadol 0.25mcg Capsule should not be taken if you have hypercalcaemia, a condition characterised by elevated blood calcium levels, as the medication may further increase calcium and deteriorate the condition.
Your physician may prescribe additional medications alongside Alphadol 0.25mcg Capsule, such as phosphate-binding agents to regulate phosphate levels or calcium supplements to maintain appropriate blood calcium concentrations. Because this drug affects calcium and phosphate levels in the blood, your doctor may adjust your dose if you develop signs of excess calcium or phosphate. Regular blood tests are typically required to monitor these levels, particularly in children, patients with kidney problems, or those receiving higher doses.
Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or are planning pregnancy. It is unknown whether this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
