Product Introduction

Alphadol 0.5mcg Tablet is a vitamin supplement containing the active ingredient alfacalcidol. It is used to treat conditions where calcium levels in the body require adjustment. The medication manages osteodystrophy (bone structure changes caused by kidney failure), hyperparathyroidism (excessive calcium in the blood due to overactive parathyroid glands), hypoparathyroidism (insufficient calcium in the blood due to underactive parathyroid glands), hypocalcaemia (low calcium levels in the blood) in newborn infants, and rickets or osteomalacia (bone deformity due to calcium deficiency).

This drug is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to alfacalcidol or any component of the formulation. Patients with kidney issues, including kidney stones, may require special monitoring and dosage adjustments. Your doctor needs to evaluate your kidney function and determine the appropriate dose for you. If you have hypercalcaemia (high levels of calcium in your blood), Alphadol 0.5mcg Tablet should not be taken, as the medication could further increase your calcium levels and worsen the condition.

Your physician might prescribe additional medications with Alphadol 0.5mcg Tablet, such as a phosphate-binding agent to regulate phosphate levels or a calcium supplement to maintain appropriate calcium levels in your blood. This drug can affect calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose if you experience signs of elevated calcium or phosphate in your blood. Regular blood tests are typically conducted to monitor these levels, particularly in children, patients with kidney problems, or those receiving a high dose of the medication.

Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or are planning to become pregnant. It is unknown whether this medicine passes into breast milk. Please consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
