Product Introduction
Alphalan 5mg tablet contains melphalan as the active ingredient. It is an anticancer agent belonging to the class of alkylating agents. It is used to treat multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer. It is also indicated for advanced breast and ovarian cancer. Alphalan 5mg tablet is also used to treat polycythemia vera, a condition characterised by an increased number of red blood cells in the blood, which causes blood thickening and increases the risk of blood clots. The medicine works by reducing the number of abnormal cells your body produces.
Do not take Alphalan 5mg tablet if you are allergic to melphalan or any other ingredients in the formulation. Inform your doctor if you have recently undergone radiotherapy or chemotherapy for cancer, or if you have kidney problems. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Inform your doctor if you have received any vaccinations recently or are planning to undergo vaccination. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a rash, lumps or hives on the skin, swelling of the face, eyelids or lips, sudden wheezing, or chest tightness after taking this medicine.

How it works
Alphalan 5mg tablet is an alkylating agent. It exerts its cytotoxic action primarily due to the cross-linking of strands of DNA and RNA, as well as the inhibition of protein synthesis. It works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells in your body.
How to Use
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Alphalan 5mg tablet based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at the same time, with or without food. Do not break, chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.

Pregnancy: unsafe Do not take Alphalan 5mg tablet if you are pregnant because this may harm the unborn baby. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspecting pregnancy, or planning to get pregnant during the treatment. Use effective contraception during the treatment.
Lungs: Consult your doctor It is unknown whether Alphalan 5mg tablet can be used in patients with lung disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any lung diseases before starting the treatment.
Breastfeeding: unsafe Breastfeeding is not recommended in patients taking Alphalan 5mg tablet because the medicine passes into the breast milk in small amounts and may harm your baby. Do not breastfeed during the treatment.
