Product Introduction
Amlodac AT Tablet is an antihypertensive medication belonging to the calcium channel blockers and cardioselective beta-blockers category, containing the active ingredients amlodipine and atenolol. This combination is commonly used to treat hypertension, a chronic condition characterised by persistently elevated blood pressure. If left untreated or uncontrolled, hypertension increases the risk of cardiovascular complications, including myocardial infarction and stroke. Amlodac AT Tablet is often prescribed when monotherapy with a single agent proves inadequate for blood pressure control.
Amlodac AT Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to amlodipine, atenolol, or any component of the formulation. Do not use this medication in patients with aortic stenosis, the narrowing of the aortic valve. The medication may impair normal cardiac function in this condition and should be avoided. Amlodac AT Tablet is not suitable for patients with heart failure following myocardial infarction.
Inform your physician if you have impaired liver or kidney function. Patients with hepatic or renal impairment may require dose adjustment or alternative medications. Notify your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy.
Avoid grapefruit juice and grapefruit whilst taking Amlodac AT Tablet. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice contain compounds that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme, potentially elevating medication levels in the bloodstream.

How it works
Amlodipine blocks calcium entry into the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels and the heart. This action leads to the relaxation and widening of blood vessels, reducing peripheral resistance and improving blood flow. Atenolol is a beta blocker that primarily acts on the heart by blocking the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Doing so reduces the heart rate, decreases the force of contraction of the heart muscles, and lowers blood pressure.
How to Use
It is an orally available prescription drug. Your doctor will decide the duration and dose of the drug based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take an Amlodac AT Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet with or without food. Do not open, break, chew, or crush the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.
