Product Introduction
Azopen 1gm injection is an antibiotic of the carbapenem class containing meropenem as the active ingredient. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including skin, lung, urinary, and gynaecological infections. The injection is also used for the prevention of surgical site infections.
Azopen 1gm injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins or cephalosporins. Patients who have experienced severe diarrhoea following previous antibiotic use should inform their physician before treatment.
This medication can reduce serum concentrations of valproic acid, which is used to treat seizures and certain psychiatric conditions. This reduction may decrease the effectiveness of valproic acid. Patients taking valproic acid may require dose adjustment or consideration of alternative treatments by their healthcare provider.
Before commencing treatment with Azopen 1gm injection, patients should inform their physician of any pre-existing medical conditions, including epilepsy, kidney or liver disease, or if they are following a salt-restricted diet. During treatment, blood tests may be recommended by the doctor to monitor blood cell count and kidney function. Patients who are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or taking herbal supplements should inform their physician of all medications currently being used.

Expert Tips
Overuse or misuse of antibiotics can contribute to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It is important to use this drug only as prescribed and directed by your physician. Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to monitor your improvement and discuss any doubts or queries you may have regarding your treatment with Azopen 1gm injection. While this drug is generally well-tolerated, it can cause side effects in some individuals. If you get serious side effects, like severe diarrhea, rash, or difficulty breathing, notify your doctor immediately. It is highly advised not to skip the dose schedules as it may decrease the drug's effectiveness and increase the chance of bacteria developing resistance. It is generally suggested to complete the full treatment schedule as your doctor prescribes.
