This medicine alleviates symptoms and excessive anxiety associated with IBS. The medication is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Avoid Benizep SR Capsule if you are hypersensitive to this medication or any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse, mental illness, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness disorder), severe liver disorders, breathing problems, kidney disorders, or recent bereavement before commencing this medication. Do not consume alcohol while taking Benizep SR Capsule, as drowsiness may occur.
Uses
Treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
How it works
Chlordiazepoxide increases the concentration of inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA and chloride ions. This reduces the excitation of the neurons, producing muscle relaxation and sedation. Mebeverine is an antispasmodic that relaxes the muscles by inhibiting gastrointestinal propulsive motility and gastric acid secretion.
How to Use
Benizep SR Capsule is administered orally, meaning that it is taken by mouth. The healthcare provider will determine the dosage and duration of treatment based on the specific infection and individual factors.
Side Effects
Benizep SR Capsule causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious: Severe allergic reactions Jaundice Bleeding problems Common: Drowsiness Skin rash, itching Difficulty in controlling movements Slurred speech Lack of coordination Tiredness Dependence
Expert Tips
Do not take Benizep SR Capsule at least two hours before or after taking other medicines as it may interact with other medicines. Inform your doctor if you have an enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, or trouble passing urine. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
