Product Introduction

Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet contains Cabergoline as its active ingredient. It is used primarily to treat hyperprolactinemia, which is elevated prolactin levels in the blood caused by conditions such as prolactinomas (tumours of the pituitary gland). High prolactin levels can result in irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, galactorrhea (unwanted breast milk production), and decreased libido. Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, thereby lowering prolactin levels and improving associated symptoms. Cabgolin may also be used in the management of Parkinson's disease, where it functions as a dopamine agonist to improve motor function and reduce stiffness. This makes Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet an important medication for managing both hormone imbalances and neurological disorders.

Uses

Hyperprolactinemia : To reduce prolactin levels and alleviate symptoms such as galactorrhea, amenorrhea, and infertility. Parkinson’s Disease : Occasionally used as a dopaminergic agent to improve motor function and manage symptoms in Parkinson’s disease.

How it works

The Cabergoline in Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, which in turn suppresses prolactin secretion from the pituitary gland. By reducing prolactin levels, it helps restore normal menstrual cycles, fertility, and reduces unwanted breast milk production. In patients with Parkinson’s disease, Cabgolin helps restore dopamine activity, thereby improving motor control, reducing rigidity, and alleviating tremors. Regular use of the tablet can significantly improve quality of life for patients with prolactinomas or Parkinson’s disease.

How to Use

Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet should be taken orally as prescribed by your doctor. The tablet can be taken with or without food, generally once or twice a week, depending on the condition being treated. Ensure that you follow the dosing schedule exactly as instructed. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet; swallow it whole with a glass of water. Your doctor may adjust the dosage based on your response to the treatment and prolactin levels.

Safety Advice

Pregnancy: Consult your doctor Cabgolin 0.5mg Tablet should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Lungs: Consult your doctor Cabgolin may, in rare cases, lead to pulmonary fibrosis or pleural effusion (fluid buildup around the lungs). These conditions are more commonly seen with prolonged use or higher doses, so regular monitoring is recommended for those with a history of lung problems.

Breastfeeding: unsafe Since Cabgolin reduces prolactin secretion and can suppress milk production, it is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers.
