Calmac 50mg Tablet

Calmac 50mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Bicalutamide. It is indicated for treatment of advanced prostate cancer. It is classified as a non-steroidal anti-androgen. It is prescribed in combination with a Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone (LHRH) analog or following surgical castration. Calmac 50mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but should be taken at the same time each day. Dosage is individualised based on patient condition and should be taken as directed by your doctor. Do not exceed the prescribed dose, as this may cause serious adverse effects. This medication must be continued even when the patient feels well. It forms part of androgen deprivation therapy, which may be combined with radiation and surgical intervention in high-risk patients. Androgen deprivation therapy substantially reduces testosterone levels. Since prostate cancer is androgen-sensitive, this approach targets both the source and effects of androgen. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop blood in urine or severe allergic reactions during treatment.

Treatment of advanced prostate cancer

Calmac 50mg Tablet binds to the cytosol androgen receptors and blocks the effect of the androgen hormone. It interrupts the interaction of androgen receptors to hormones testosterone and dihydrotestosterone. This, in turn, blocks the growth of cancer cells in the prostate gland.

Consume the tablet at the same time each day, with or without food.

Avoid driving and handling heavy machineries after taking this medication as it causes dizziness and individuals can lack consciousness and alertness. Blood count, blood pressure, liver, kidneys, blood glucose levels should be monitored regularly while using this medication.
