Product Introduction

Celdaz 100mg injection is an antineoplastic drug from the class of alkylating agents, containing dacarbazine as the active ingredient. It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma and Hodgkin's disease. The drug is often combined with cisplatin for treatment of certain cancers including Hodgkin's lymphoma, and combined with temozolomide for melanoma treatment. Use of this medicine may increase the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer.

This drug is contraindicated in pregnant women. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months after treatment concludes. Excretion in human milk is not established; breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment. Use with caution in patients with pre-existing liver or kidney dysfunction.

Live vaccines should not be administered during this injection therapy, as the drug may suppress immune function and increase susceptibility to serious infection. Pain along the vein may occur during administration. If pain is experienced, inform your nurse immediately so the infusion site can be assessed. The infusion rate may be reduced or the line flushed with additional fluids to minimise discomfort.

Treatment should not be initiated if white blood cell counts fall below determined threshold levels. Your doctor will monitor these values at regular intervals. Do not use this medicine if you have a known allergy to dacarbazine. Blood tests will be performed before each administration to confirm adequate blood cell counts for safe treatment. The usual dosing interval is once every three to four weeks.

Inform your physician of all medications recently taken, including herbal medicines and supplements, prior to receiving this injection.

Uses

Metastatic malignant melanoma Hodgkin’s disease

How it works

It is a type of alkylating agent, which works majorly through the process of alkylation. It enters the cancer cells after getting activated by the liver and inhibits DNA synthesis. This process disrupts the normal cell cycle and DNA function, leading to arrest in cancer cell growth and multiplication.

How to Use

The medicine will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. Celdaz 100mg injection will be given intravenously into a vein in your arm or hand. Do not self-administer this medicine. The specific dose and schedule of administration depend on the type and stage of the cancer being treated. This injection is usually given about 30 minutes before you receive your anti-cancer medicine (chemotherapy). During the infusion, you will be monitored for any side effects or reactions to the medication. It is important to get the dose at the scheduled time. If you missed the schedule, contact your doctor and reschedule the dose.
