Product Introduction
Celopred 40mg injection is an anti-inflammatory medication belonging to the glucocorticoid class, containing methylprednisolone as its active ingredient. It is indicated for inflammatory or allergic conditions affecting the brain (arising from tumours or meningitis), lungs (arising from asthma, hypersensitivity, tuberculosis, or aspiration of vomit or gastric contents), gut, and bowel (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). It is also used to manage rheumatic, skin, eye, and endocrine disorders. The injection is used for palliative management of cancers including leukaemia and lymphoma, and for reduction of pain following surgery. At higher doses, it is used to treat acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis symptoms. This injection should not be used if you have a fungal infection, cerebral oedema secondary to malaria, traumatic brain injury, or if you have recently received vaccination or are scheduled to receive any vaccination. Common side effects associated with this medicine include headache, vision problems, impaired wound healing, and bone weakness. Serious side effects include venous thromboembolism affecting leg veins and lungs, and peptic ulcer bleeding. Notify your healthcare provider if these side effects are a concern or persist beyond the expected duration. This drug can increase the risk of certain ocular complications, including posterior subcapsular cataracts and glaucoma. These conditions may result in vision loss if left untreated. Additionally, corticosteroids can suppress immune function, increasing susceptibility to secondary ocular infections caused by fungi or viruses. Therefore, corticosteroids should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration to minimise such adverse effects. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any changes in vision or eye discomfort during treatment with Celopred 40mg injection or other corticosteroids. Your healthcare provider will monitor blood pressure, electrolyte levels, and renal function closely during corticosteroid therapy to prevent side effects. Corticosteroids increase urinary calcium excretion, which can lead to osteoporosis and elevated fracture risk with prolonged use. Your doctor will prescribe calcium and vitamin D supplementation to support bone health during corticosteroid treatment. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking, including herbal medicines and supplements, before commencing this injection.

How it works

Expert Tips
Celopred 40mg injection can cause harm to a developing fetus or nursing baby, so it is important to notify your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby. Grapefruit juice and grapefruit should be avoided by individuals taking this drug. This medicine can cause several side effects related to electrolyte and fluid balance. When given in large doses, these medications can increase blood pressure, cause salt and water retention, and increase the excretion of potassium. These effects are less likely to occur with prolonged use or high doses. To prevent these side effects, dietary salt restriction and potassium supplementation may be necessary.
