Product Introduction
Cernos 40mg capsule is a hormonal preparation containing testosterone, an androgen used to treat male hypogonadism—a condition of deficient or absent testosterone in adult males. The diagnosis is confirmed through blood testosterone measurement and clinical assessment of symptoms including erectile dysfunction, infertility, decreased libido, fatigue, depression, and reduced bone density. Patients with known hypersensitivity to testosterone or soy must notify their doctor prior to use. The medicine is contraindicated in patients with prostate cancer or breast cancer and should be used with caution in these populations. Patients with cardiac disorders or hypertension should inform their doctor before commencing treatment. The medication is not recommended for women, particularly those who are pregnant, as it may induce virilisation of a female fetus. The safety and efficacy of Cernos 40mg capsule in paediatric males and adult males with age-related hypogonadism have not been established. Patients should disclose to their doctor any risk factors for thromboembolism, personal or family history of venous thrombosis, existing blood clots, current smoking status, obesity, or history of malignancy.
Uses
Primary hypogonadism (testicular failure) Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (problem in the pituitary gland or hypothalamus)
How it works
Cernos 40mg capsule binds to the cytoplasmic androgen receptor; these receptor hormone complexes get transported to the nucleus for binding with DNA. This process leads to the expression of specific genes responsible for the development and maintenance of male sexual characteristics and other androgenic effects.
