Product Introduction

Clostran 9gm Sachet contains cholestyramine as its active component. It is indicated primarily for lowering cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol is a type of lipid that can accumulate in the bloodstream and contribute to the development of cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, and coronary artery disease (CAD). Atherosclerosis is a condition in which plaque forms on the inner walls of arteries, narrowing and hardening them. Hypercholesterolemia is characterised by high cholesterol levels in the blood. Hyperlipidemia refers to elevated lipid (fat) levels in the blood, including cholesterol and triglycerides. CAD occurs when the coronary arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle become narrowed or blocked due to plaque buildup. Do not take this medication if you are hypersensitive to cholestyramine. It should not be used in patients with complete biliary obstruction, severe triglyceride elevations, certain intestinal disorders, phenylketonuria (for formulations containing aspartame), and in those taking specific medications with potential interactions. A healthcare provider should be consulted before using Clostran 9gm Sachet to ensure its safety and suitability based on individual health conditions and current medications. This medicine is not recommended for children below six years of age. It may be used in older adults but may require close monitoring.

How it works

Clostran 9gm Sachet binds to bile acids within the intestines, creating complexes that are subsequently eliminated from the body. This prompts the liver to synthesize additional bile acids from cholesterol, decreasing cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. By reducing cholesterol, this medication assists in preventing conditions linked to high cholesterol, notably atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.

How to Use

Clostran 9gm Sachet is typically administered orally, which means it is taken by mouth. It comes in the form of a powder that can be mixed with liquids, such as water or juice, before being consumed. This oral formulation allows the medication to work in the gastrointestinal tract, where it binds to bile acids and helps lower cholesterol levels through its mechanism of action. This medication is not typically available in other forms, like injections or topical applications, as its intended mechanism of action is best achieved through oral administration.
