Product Introduction
Contiflo 0.4mg Tablet contains Tamsulosin, an alpha-adrenergic antagonist used in men to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia include difficulty in urinating, painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency. The medication reduces tension in the muscles of the prostate and urethra. It belongs to the class of medications called alpha-blockers and works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder to allow urine to flow easily.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Tamsulosin or any other ingredients in Contiflo 0.4mg Tablet, or if angioedema (swelling due to allergic reaction) occurs after using certain drugs.
Inform your physician if you have a serious liver infection, suffer from dizziness, or have experienced malaise during or after urination (micturition syncope). If you are planning to undergo cataract or glaucoma surgery, inform your doctor that you are taking or have recently taken Contiflo 0.4mg Tablet.
Exercise caution if you have severely impaired renal function, as there is insufficient clinical data regarding patients with severe renal impairment. In case of dizziness, sit down or lie down until the symptoms disappear. Report to your physician if you experience a drop in blood pressure during long-term use.
Uses
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
How it works
Tamsulosin, an alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist, selectively blocks sympathetic nervous stimulation of the receptor resulting in relaxation of the smooth muscles of the prostate, prostatic urethra, and bladder neck for improvement in urine flow rate and a reduction in symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It binds selectively and competitively to the postsynaptic alpha-1 adrenoceptor, particularly to subtypes alpha1A and alpha1D. It brings about the relaxation of prostatic and urethral smooth muscle
