Product Introduction

CT-Rax 500mg Tablet contains cefuroxime as its active ingredient. It is an antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections and belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics. The medication works by inhibiting bacterial growth and spread in the body. It demonstrates broad-spectrum activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. CT-Rax 500mg Tablet is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhea.

CT-Rax 500mg Tablet should not be used in individuals with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins due to the risk of cross-reactivity and increased likelihood of allergic reactions. CT-Rax 500mg Tablet and other antibiotics can disrupt the normal balance of gastrointestinal bacteria, potentially leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile. In patients with a history of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, CT-Rax 500mg Tablet may be contraindicated or require careful consideration. This medication is generally not recommended for use in preterm infants due to the potential risk of increased incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis. Patients with severe kidney impairment or those requiring dialysis may require dosage adjustments.
