Product Introduction

Cytomega 450mg tablet is an antiviral medication containing the active ingredient valganciclovir. It belongs to the class of non-HIV antiviral drugs. Valganciclovir is converted to ganciclovir in the body, where it works to combat viral infections. It is used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in adults with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Cytomegalovirus infection frequently results in vision problems and blindness. It also prevents cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in adult and paediatric patients who have received an organ transplant from a donor with CMV infection.

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to valganciclovir, ganciclovir, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Inform your doctor if you have a low blood cell count (WBC, RBC, platelets). Notify your doctor if you have undergone radiotherapy or haemodialysis (treatment to remove waste and water from your blood) or have kidney conditions. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use effective contraception during and after treatment; women should use contraception for 30 days, while men should use condoms for 90 days during and after treatment. Discuss fertility concerns with your doctor. A dose adjustment of Cytomega 450mg tablet will be made if you have kidney disease. Your doctor may perform regular blood tests to monitor blood cell counts while you are taking this medication.
