Product Introduction

Daktarin Gel 40gm is an antifungal medication belonging to the class of fungal ergosterol synthesis inhibitors. It contains miconazole as the active ingredient and is used to treat fungal skin infections including athlete's foot (infection affecting the feet), jock itch (infection affecting the groin and inner thigh), and infected nappy rash.

The medication is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to miconazole or any component of the formulation. Effectiveness can be enhanced by maintaining the affected area in a clean and dry state, washing hands before and after application, and for athlete's foot, thoroughly washing socks or tights and replacing shoes regularly where possible.

Other drugs administered by mouth or injection are unlikely to interfere with this medicine's action. However, inform your doctor if you have recently used any steroid-containing medicine or experienced allergic reactions to other antifungal medications. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use this medication only on medical advice.

Avoid contact with the nose, eyes, or mouth. In case of accidental exposure, rinse the affected area immediately with copious amounts of water. Consult a physician or dermatologist if any irritation or adverse reactions occur.

Miconazole can be used in children and infants aged four months and above. The appropriate strength and dosing instructions should be followed as recommended by a paediatrician.

Uses

Treatment of fungal skin infections

How it works

Miconazole works by inhibiting the growth and reproduction of fungi. It interferes with the production of ergosterol, an important component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens the cell membrane, leading to cell death and ultimately eliminating the fungal infection.

How to Use

For external use only. It is important to apply enough gel to cover the affected area that needs treatment and gently massage it into the skin until it is fully absorbed. Apply Daktarin Gel 40gm once or twice daily or as your doctor recommends.

Side Effects

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Serious Serious allergic reactions (swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat) Difficulty in swallowing or breathing Itchy rash (hives) Skin burning sensation Application site reactions Skin discoloration Common Skin irritation Redness

Expert Tips

Before and after applying the cream, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent the spread of infection. Do not share your clothes or towel with anyone to avoid spreading the infection to others. Apply enough Daktarin Gel 40gm to cover the affected area and approximately 1 inch of the skin around it. Follow the instructions provided by your physician or on the product label for the correct amount and application technique.
