The combination is indicated for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and above. This tablet is taken orally and should always be used alongside diet and exercise modifications. Your doctor may prescribe this medication alongside other anti-diabetic drugs when blood glucose remains elevated and poorly controlled.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to dapagliflozin, metformin, or any other component of the tablet. Avoid this medication if you have a history of diabetic ketoacidosis, severely impaired kidney function, severe infection, or hepatic dysfunction. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle cramps, severe fatigue, breathing difficulty, reduced body temperature, or palpitations after taking this medicine. Notify your doctor if you develop urinary tract infections, as this medication may increase UTI risk. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Your doctor will assess kidney function at least annually, or more frequently as clinically indicated, during treatment with this medicine. Common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, urinary tract infections, and headache.

How it works
Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and lowers the renal threshold for glucose. It works by removing excess sugar from your body via your urine and lowering the sugar in your blood. Metformin primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and decreases intestinal absorption of glucose. It works mainly by inhibiting glucose production in the liver.
How to Use
It is an orally available prescription drug. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Dapefy M 5mg/1000mg tablet based on the blood sugar and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at the same time with food. Do not break, chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.
