Product Introduction

Dapefy M XR 10/500mg tablet contains Dapagliflozin 10mg and Metformin 500mg as active ingredients. It is an anti-diabetic medication. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitor, whilst Metformin is a biguanide. The combination is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and older. The tablet is taken orally and should always be used alongside diet and exercise modifications. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine with other anti-diabetic agents if your blood sugar remains elevated and inadequately controlled.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Dapagliflozin, Metformin, or any other component of the tablet. Avoid this medication if you have a history of diabetic ketoacidosis, severely reduced kidney function, severe infection, or liver disease. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle cramps, severe fatigue, difficulty breathing, reduced body temperature, or irregular heartbeat after taking this medicine. Report any urinary tract infections to your physician, as this medicine may increase the risk of UTI. This medicine is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age.

Your doctor will monitor your kidney function at least once yearly, or more frequently if needed, whilst you are taking this medication. Common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, urinary tract infections, and headache.

How it works

Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and lowers the renal threshold for glucose. It works by removing excess sugar from your body via your urine and lowering the sugar in your blood. Metformin primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and decreases intestinal absorption of glucose. It works mainly by inhibiting glucose production in the liver.

How to Use

It is an orally available prescription drug. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Dapefy M XR 10/500mg tablet based on the blood sugar and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at the same time with food. Do not break, chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.
