Product Introduction
Dapnat 5mg Tablet is an antidiabetic drug belonging to the class of sodium-glucose cotransport-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors. It contains the active ingredient Dapagliflozin and is indicated for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and above. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterised by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycaemia). This medication is also approved for treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults, helping to improve symptoms and reduce hospitalisation risk associated with heart failure. The drug functions primarily to control elevated blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It should always be used alongside dietary modification and physical exercise. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine in combination with other antidiabetic agents when blood sugar remains elevated and inadequately controlled. Do not use this medicine if you have an allergy to Dapagliflozin or any component of Dapnat 5mg Tablet. Inform your doctor if you develop urinary tract infections, as this medicine may increase UTI risk. This medicine is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age. Your doctor will monitor kidney function at baseline and at least annually, or more frequently as clinically indicated, during treatment. If you experience nausea, vomiting, fever, or difficulty consuming food or fluids while taking Dapnat 5mg Tablet, notify your doctor immediately. These symptoms may lead to dehydration, and your doctor may recommend temporary discontinuation until recovery. During treatment with this drug, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) may occur even when blood glucose levels are normal. Should you suspect symptoms of DKA, contact your doctor or proceed to the nearest hospital urgently.
