Product Introduction

Desirox 250 mg Tablet contains deferasirox, an iron-chelating agent used to treat chronic iron overload resulting from repeated blood transfusions in conditions such as beta-thalassemia and certain myelodysplastic syndromes. By binding excess iron, it helps reduce iron accumulation and prevents damage to vital organs.

Patients should seek immediate medical attention if they develop allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, stomach ulcers, bleeding, or changes in vision while taking this medication. Regular monitoring of blood counts, kidney function (including serum creatinine), and liver function is recommended throughout treatment to detect potential adverse effects early.

Desirox 250 mg Tablet is not recommended for patients with advanced cancer, poor performance status, myelodysplastic syndrome in certain high-risk settings, or a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) below 40 mL/min/1.73 m². It should also be avoided in individuals with severe kidney or liver impairment and used with caution in those with pre-existing renal or hepatic conditions.

The use of Desirox during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally not advised. Patients who are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding should inform their healthcare provider before starting treatment. Effective non-hormonal contraception is recommended during therapy to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy.
