Product Introduction

Destrogen Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive containing desogestrel and ethinylestradiol, two synthetic female hormones (progestogen and estrogen). It is primarily used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thereby stopping the release of an egg from the ovaries. In addition to contraception, it is also prescribed to manage dysmenorrhea, a condition characterized by painful and irregular menstrual periods accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, digestive discomfort, and fainting.

Do not use Destrogen Tablet if you are allergic to desogestrel, ethinylestradiol, or any of its ingredients. Before starting treatment, inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of breast cancer, liver or kidney disease, heart disease, stroke, eye disorders, migraines, or diabetes, as the medication may influence blood sugar levels and headache severity. It should also be avoided in individuals with a history of blood clotting disorders, unexplained vaginal bleeding, liver tumors, pancreatitis, or those receiving certain medications for hepatitis C.

Tell your doctor if you have conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), sickle cell anemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, superficial thrombophlebitis, or varicose veins, or if you have a family history of elevated blood fats. You should also mention if you have recently given birth, are scheduled for surgery, or expect prolonged periods of immobility, as these situations may increase the risk of blood clots.

If you develop chloasma (brown patches on the skin), avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet (UV) radiation during treatment. Destrogen Tablet is not recommended for individuals with severe diabetes associated with blood vessel damage, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or markedly elevated cholesterol or triglyceride levels. Its use is also not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
