Product Introduction

Dixin 0.25mg Tablet contains the active ingredient digoxin, a cardiac glycoside used in the management of arrhythmias and heart failure. An arrhythmia is a heartbeat irregularity characterised by skipped beats, erratic beating, or incorrect heart rate. Heart failure refers to inadequate cardiac output, in which the heart cannot pump blood to the body sufficiently.

Do not take Dixin 0.25mg Tablet if you are allergic to digoxin, other cardiac glycosides, or any component of this medication.

Inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any of the following: recent myocardial infarction, severe cardiac conditions, recent electrical cardioversion for arrhythmia correction, lung disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, hypertension, vitamin B1 deficiency, or malabsorption syndrome (impaired mineral absorption from food).

Communication with your healthcare provider regarding your complete medical history and current medications is essential before starting treatment with this medicine.

Uses

Heart failure Irregular heart rhythm or heartbeats

How it works

Dixin 0.25mg tablet works by correcting irregular heartbeats to a normal rhythm and strengthens the force of the heartbeat during heart failure.

How to Use

To take a dixin 0.25mg tablet follow your doctor's instructions closely. The medicine is administered orally, with dosages determined based on your heart condition, age, weight, and kidney function. Regular blood tests are done for dose adjustments. The treatment typically involves a loading dose to quickly reach therapeutic levels, followed by a maintenance dose as directed by your physician. Children's doses are weight-dependent, and the elderly may receive lower doses due to reduced kidney function.

Side Effects

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common Allergic reactions of the skin may occur (rash, urticaria) Abnormal heartbeats Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea Dizziness Visual disturbances (blurred or yellow vision)

Expert Tips

During the treatment with dixin 0.25mg tablet, your doctor may require you to take regular blood tests to monitor the digoxin levels in your blood, especially if you have kidney disorders. It is important to inform the healthcare provider conducting an ECG (electrocardiogram) about your digoxin intake, as it can influence the test results. Additionally, if you take Digoxin alongside suxamethonium (used for muscle relaxation and short-term paralysis treatment), there is a higher risk of elevated potassium levels in your blood. Hence, inform your doctor if you are on short-term paralysis treatment. While this medicine can generally be taken with or without food, it is important to avoid high-fiber foods as they can reduce the absorption of digoxin in your body. Awareness of these considerations and communicating them to your healthcare providers is essential for your safety and effective treatment.
