Product Introduction

Duratocin RTS Injection contains the active ingredient Carbetocin, which is an oxytocin receptor agonist. It is indicated for the prevention of excessive bleeding following delivery in women who have recently given birth. Carbetocin is a synthetic nonapeptide form of the hormone oxytocin, which acts to promote contractions of the uterine muscle and epithelial cells in the breast. This hormone facilitates labour induction during delivery and reduces blood flow from the placenta to the baby after delivery.

Duratocin RTS Injection should not be administered if you are pregnant, in labour with an undelivered baby, or have a known allergy to Carbetocin, its ingredients, or oxytocin. Avoid this medicine if you have liver disease, kidney disease, serious cardiac disease, or epilepsy. Before receiving this medicine, inform your physician if you have a history of migraines, asthma, pre-eclampsia (elevated blood pressure in pregnancy), eclampsia (toxaemia of pregnancy), cardiac or circulatory disorders (including hypertension), or any other medical conditions.

Uses

Prevention of heavy bleeding after delivery (postpartum hemorrhage)

How it works

Carbetocin Injection functions similarly to oxytocin hormone by binding to specific uterine muscles, inducing their contraction, and reducing bleeding by stopping uterine bleeding.

How to Use

It is usually administered as an injection or infusion in the vein (intravenous) or muscle (intramuscular).
