E2V Gel

E2V Gel contains estradiol, an active ingredient belonging to vaginal Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medicines. It is a hormone classified as an estrogen, with properties identical to naturally occurring estradiol produced by the ovaries. E2V Gel is indicated to treat menopausal symptoms including vaginal atrophy (vaginal dryness or irritation) in postmenopausal women.

Do not use E2V Gel if you are allergic to estradiol or any of its constituents. E2V Gel is contraindicated in patients with breast cancer or any oestrogen receptor-sensitive cancer. Do not use E2V Gel if you have a clotting disorder, blood clots in the veins (lungs or legs), or unexplained vaginal bleeding. E2V Gel is not recommended in patients with a history of heart attack, stroke, angina, or abnormal liver function tests. E2V Gel is not given to patients with porphyria, a rare inherited blood disorder.

Estrogen intake increases the risk of gallbladder disease. Discontinue estrogen if you experience cholestatic jaundice, severe hypertriglyceridemia, severe hypercalcaemia, or vision loss. Women receiving thyroid replacement treatment require monitoring. Inform your doctor if you have vaginal bleeding, heart problems, kidney problems, lung problems, liver problems, diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, or hearing disorder. Inform your doctor if you are planning pregnancy, may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Disclose your complete medical history to your doctor. Inform your healthcare provider of all medicines you are taking, including herbal medicines, vitamins, and over-the-counter medicines.

E2V Gel primarily acts by binding to estrogen receptors (ERs) present on the surface of target cells. Upon binding to its receptor, E2V Gel induces a conformational change in the receptor, leading to its activation. E2V Gel replaces estrogen (female sex hormone) and prevents the symptoms of menopause, like vaginal irritation or dryness.

Take E2V Gel exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not adjust the dosage or frequency without consulting your doctor. Apply your E2V Gel at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of hormone in your body.

It is recommended to examine your breast (mammogram) to avoid the risk of breast cancer caused by the drug and inform your doctor if you have any changes in skin color. Always make sure that you have washed your hands before and after the use of the gel. Don't apply it on your breast, eye, or other part of the body apart from the application site. Inform your doctor if you have uterus cancer or a history of blood clots. It is advised to regularly monitor liver function tests, thyroid tests, bone mineral density and blood pressure as treatment with E2V Gel can alter these values.
