Product Introduction
Ecosprin AV 75mg/20mg capsule is an antiplatelet and statin combination medication containing Aspirin and Atorvastatin. It belongs to the platelet aggregation inhibitor and HMG CoA reductase inhibitor categories. This combination is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk, including those with elevated cholesterol and a history of heart disease or stroke.
This capsule should not be administered to children and teenagers who have or are recovering from viral infections, particularly chickenpox or influenza, as it has been associated with Reye's syndrome, a serious condition affecting the liver and brain.
The drug undergoes hepatic metabolism and renal elimination. Patients with severe liver or kidney disease may experience impaired clearance and increased risk of toxicity. Dosage adjustment may be necessary in such cases.
Ecosprin AV 75mg/20mg capsule increases the risk of bleeding and is contraindicated in patients with active bleeding conditions, such as bleeding ulcers, bleeding disorders, or recent haemorrhagic strokes.
Regarding fertility, this drug may temporarily affect fertility in women. The effect is generally reversible upon discontinuation. Patients with concerns about fertility effects should discuss them with their healthcare provider.
Patients should report any skin reactions or hypersensitivity reactions to their healthcare provider and seek immediate medical attention for symptoms of severe reactions. The medication may trigger asthma or bronchospasm in individuals with sensitivity, particularly those with a history of asthma or nasal polyps. Patients with respiratory problems should inform their doctor before taking this capsule so that the specific condition can be evaluated and an alternative medication considered if necessary.
Uses
Ecosprin AV 75mg/20mg capsule is used to treat and prevent, Angina Heart attack Stroke High cholesterol
How it works
The first drug works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase (COX), specifically COX-1, which is involved in the production of thromboxane A2. Thromboxane A2 promotes platelet aggregation, which can lead to the formation of blood clots. By inhibiting thromboxane A2 production, this drug helps prevent excessive platelet aggregation and reduces the risk of blood clot formation. The other drug works by inhibiting an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which is involved in the production of cholesterol in the liver. By inhibiting this enzyme, this drug reduces the synthesis of cholesterol, leading to a decrease in total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels.
How to Use
It is an orally available prescription drug. Your doctor will decide the duration and dose of the drug based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take an Ecosprin AV 75mg/20mg capsule as prescribed by your doctor. Take the capsule with or without food. Do not open, break, chew, or crush the capsule. Swallow the whole capsule with water.
