Product Introduction
Enrifol H 2mg Tablet contains the active ingredient estradiol, a hormone belonging to the vaginal Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) class. Estradiol is an oestrogen that is identical to the naturally occurring hormone synthesised by the ovaries in women.
This medicine is indicated for the treatment of menopausal symptoms, particularly vaginal atrophy (dryness or irritation of the vagina), in postmenopausal women.
Do not use Enrifol H 2mg Tablet if you are allergic to estradiol or any of its constituents. It is contraindicated in patients with breast cancer or any oestrogen receptor-sensitive malignancy. Do not use this medicine if you have a clotting disorder, blood clots in the veins (legs or lungs), or unexplained vaginal bleeding. It is not recommended for patients with a history of myocardial infarction, stroke, angina, or abnormal liver function tests. Patients with porphyria, a rare inherited blood disorder, should not receive this medicine.
Estrogen therapy increases the risk of gallbladder disease. Discontinue use if you develop cholestatic jaundice, severe hypertriglyceridemia, severe hypercalcaemia, or vision loss. Monitoring is advisable in patients receiving thyroid replacement therapy.
Inform your doctor if you have vaginal bleeding, cardiac, renal, pulmonary, or hepatic problems, diabetes, asthma, hypertension, or hearing disorders. Notify your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Disclose your complete medical history and all current medications, including herbal products, vitamins, and over-the-counter medicines, to your doctor.
Uses
Relieve menopausal symptoms of 'vaginal atrophy' (in the vagina such as dryness or irritation) Treatment for hypogonadism, castration, or primary ovarian failure-related hypoestrogenism Preventing osteoporosis after menopause
How it works
Enrifol H 2mg Tablet primarily acts by binding to estrogen receptors (ERs) present on the surface of target cells. Upon binding to its receptor, estradiol induces a conformational change in the receptor, leading to its activation. Enrifol H 2mg Tablet replaces estrogen (female sex hormone) and prevents the symptoms of menopause, like vaginal irritation or dryness.
How to Use
Take Enrifol H 2mg tablets exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not adjust the dosage or frequency without consulting your doctor. Take your Enrifol H 2mg Tablets at the same time each day to maintain a consistent hormone level in your body. Swallow the Enrifol H 2mg Tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as this may affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Headache Stomach pain Vaginal bleeding Discharge or discomfort. Serious: Ovarian cancer Blood clots Heart attack Breast lumps Stroke
Expert Tips
It is recommended to examine your breast (mammogram) to avoid the risk of breast cancer caused by the drug and inform your doctor if you have any changes in skin colour. Always make sure that you have washed your hands before and after the use of the gel. Don't apply it on your breast, eye, or other part of the body apart from the application site. Inform your doctor if you have uterus cancer or a history of blood clots. Regularly monitoring liver function tests, thyroid tests, bone mineral density, and blood pressure is advised, as treatment with Enrifol H 2mg tablet can alter these values.
