Product Introduction
Enzamide 80mg capsule contains the active ingredient Enzalutamide, an antineoplastic drug and androgen receptor inhibitor. It is indicated for treatment of advanced prostate cancer in patients with inadequate response to surgical or hormonal therapy. Do not take this capsule if you are allergic to any ingredient.
During treatment, your doctor may order periodic Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests. This blood test measures PSA levels, a protein produced by the prostate gland that may be elevated in men with prostate cancer. PSA monitoring helps track disease progression and treatment response. Additional monitoring includes liver function tests and complete blood count (CBC) to prevent serious adverse effects.
Enzalutamide can cause seizures; patients with a history of seizures should exercise caution. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment as they may increase drug levels in the body.
This medicine is contraindicated in pregnancy as it may harm the foetus and causes fertility issues. Inform your healthcare provider of any fertility concerns before starting treatment. If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, tell your healthcare provider before beginning therapy. Both men and women should use effective contraceptive methods during treatment and for 3 months after the final dose of Enzamide 80mg capsule.
Uses
Advanced prostate cancer
How it works
It works by inhibiting the active form of testosterone, called dihydrotestosterone. It selectively blocks the androgen receptors and disrupts the translocation of signals from the receptor to the cell. Thus, the androgen hormone does not bind to the androgen receptors and these androgen receptors do not interact with DNA. This blocks the functioning of cancer cells and reduces its multiplication.
How to Use
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Enzamide 80mg capsule based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The standard dose for this drug is 160 mg taken once daily, with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the capsule. Swallow the whole capsule with water. If you forgot to take the capsule, simply take your next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
