Eurelix Injection

Eurelix injection is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist containing cetrorelix. It is indicated for the treatment of female infertility, defined as the inability of a woman to conceive a child or carry a pregnancy to full term. This medication helps synchronise the development of multiple follicles to enable their retrieval during in vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedures.

Eurelix injection is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to cetrorelix or any component of the formulation. Inform your physician if you have kidney disease or liver disease, as special monitoring or dose adjustments may be required in these situations.

This injection is commonly used alongside other medications that stimulate the ovaries as part of fertility treatment regimens. A significant adverse effect is Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), in which the ovaries become enlarged and cysts may develop. Contact your physician if you experience severe pelvic pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, or sudden weight gain, as these may indicate OHSS.

Report to your physician immediately if you experience sudden life-threatening allergic reactions including difficulty breathing or wheezing, swelling, rash, itching, fever, and chills.

This medication is not intended for use in children. Inform your physician of all other medications you use, have recently used, or may use, as drug interactions are possible with Eurelix injection. Use in pregnant and breastfeeding women is not recommended.

Female infertility

Eurelix injection works by blocking the effects of GnRH, a hormone that triggers the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). By inhibiting GnRH, this drug helps regulate ovulation timing during ART procedures.

Eurelix injection will be given to you by a doctor or other healthcare professional. They will administer the injection in the fatty tissues just under the skin of your belly (subcutaneously). To minimize skin irritation, your physician will select a different area of your belly for each injection.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle during fertility treatment. It includes eating a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity (unless advised by your healthcare provider), managing stress levels, avoiding smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption.
