Product Introduction
Factocel VIII 500IU Injection is an antihemophilic medicine classified as a miscellaneous coagulation modifier. It contains the active ingredient Factor VIII and is used to treat and prevent bleeding in patients with hemophilia A, a genetic disorder caused by deficiency or dysfunction of Factor VIII, a clotting protein in the blood.
This injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to Factor VIII or any component of the formulation. Discontinue immediately and contact your doctor if you develop a rash or skin symptoms.
Use of this drug increases cardiovascular risk. Discuss any existing heart disease with your physician before starting treatment with Factocel VIII 500IU Injection.
A central venous access device (CVAD) may be required for administration of this treatment. CVAD-related complications include local infections, bacteremia (bacterial infection in the bloodstream), and catheter site thrombosis (blood clot formation at the catheter site). Proper care and monitoring are necessary to minimise these risks.
Development of inhibitors (antibodies) is a known complication during treatment with this medicine. These inhibitors can reduce treatment effectiveness. Patients receiving Factocel VIII 500IU Injection therapy require close monitoring for inhibitor development. If bleeding remains uncontrolled despite this drug, notify your doctor immediately.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before starting treatment with this injection.
Uses
Treatment of Hemophilia A
How it works
By facilitating the clotting process, Factocel VIII 500IU Injection helps prevent and control bleeding episodes in individuals with hemophilia A and other conditions associated with low factor VIII levels. It reduces the chance of complications such as bleeding, excessive blood loss, and related health issues.
How to Use
Factocel VIII 500IU Injection is usually administered through a vein (intravenously) by your physician in a hospital setting. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Do not self-administer this injection.
Side Effects
Side Effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Although all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Serious Allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) or a hypersensitivity reaction Common Reddening of the skin Burning and stinging at the injection site Chills Flushing Headache Hives Hypotension Lethargy Nausea Restlessness Tachycardia Tightness of the chest Tingling Vomiting Wheezing
Expert Tips
If you regularly or repeatedly receive human plasma-derived Factocel VIII 500IU Injection products, your doctor may recommend vaccination against hepatitis A and B. It is because there is a possible risk of exposure to these viruses through plasma-derived products. Vaccination can help protect against these infections. Good dental hygiene is important to maintain oral health and prevent tooth and gum disease. It is particularly relevant for individuals with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia A, as they may be more susceptible to excessive bleeding. If you notice any changes in your symptoms or have concerns about the treatment with Factocel VIII 500IU Injection, immediately communicate them to your physician for more advice.
