Femilon Tablet

Femilon Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive that contains two active ingredients, desogestrel and ethinylestradiol. It is primarily used to prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of eggs from the ovaries. The combination of estrogen and progestogen hormones also helps manage dysmenorrhea, reducing painful and irregular menstrual periods along with symptoms such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, digestive discomfort, and fainting.

Do not use Femilon Tablet if you are allergic to desogestrel, ethinylestradiol, or any of its ingredients. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have a history of breast cancer, migraines, diabetes, or eye, kidney, liver, or heart disorders, including stroke. This medicine should also be avoided if you have blood clotting disorders, unexplained vaginal bleeding, severe diabetes with blood vessel damage, uncontrolled high blood pressure, very high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, hyperhomocysteinemia, or if you are taking certain medicines for hepatitis C.

Tell your doctor if you have Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), hemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS), sickle cell anemia, pancreatitis, a liver tumor, superficial thrombophlebitis, varicose veins, or a family history of high triglyceride levels. Also inform your doctor if you have recently given birth, are planning surgery, or expect prolonged immobility, as these conditions may increase the risk of blood clots.

If you have chloasma (brown patches on the skin), avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or UV rays while taking this medicine. Femilon Tablet is not recommended for children below 18 years of age. Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider for safe and effective contraception

Contraception Treatment of dysmenorrhea (irregular periods)

Femilon tablet prevents pregnancy by stopping the release of eggs, slowing down sperm movement, and making the womb unsuitable for pregnancy.

Take the femilon tablet as your physician advises. Take the tablet at the fixed time. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the tablet if your doctor advises you to stop.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. During your time on the femilon tablet, regularly visit your doctor or nurse for check-ups and prescription renewals. Conduct monthly self-exams of your breasts and nipples. Inform your doctor before any blood tests or surgeries. Follow your doctor’s advice on when to stop and resume taking the pill to reduce the risk of blood clots. If your doctor has informed you about sugar intolerance, consult them before using it. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicine with femilon tablet.
