Fibrogen-I Injection

Categories: Hematology

Conditions: Blood Disorder

Product Introduction

Fibrinogen-I Injection contains human fibrinogen as its active component. It is indicated for treating bleeding episodes in patients with congenital fibrinogen deficiency, which may arise from genetic mutations or liver disease. This medicine serves as an adjunct to haemostasis in adults undergoing surgery when standard surgical techniques prove insufficient to control bleeding. It functions to arrest bleeding and prevent further blood loss in cases of massive haemorrhage. It may be recommended in women at risk of premature delivery to manage bleeding risks. Additionally, it addresses acquired fibrinogen deficiency caused by liver disease, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), afibrinogenemia, hypofibrinogenemia, or other conditions that impair liver function or interfere with fibrinogen production.

The composition of Fibrinogen-I Injection contains human fibrinogen as the principal active ingredient. Dosage is individualised by your doctor based on your health condition, bleeding severity, and response to treatment. Fibrinogen-I Injection is available in major hospitals, specialised pharmacies, and through verified online medical suppliers in India.

Fibrinogen-I Injection is administered during active bleeding episodes, before or during surgery when risk of severe blood loss exists, in cases of massive haemorrhage, and in congenital or acquired fibrinogen deficiency to restore normal clotting ability.

Uses

Fibrinogen-I Injection is used in the following: Fibrinogen replacement therapy for bleeding disorders Coagulation management in liver diseases Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) Afibrinogenmia Hypofibrinogenemia

How it works

Fibrinogen-I Injection molecules are converted into fibrin by the enzyme thrombin. Fibrin strands form a meshwork, trapping blood cells and creating a stable blood clot at the site of injury or bleeding. This clot helps to staunch bleeding and promote wound healing. The missing Fibrinogen-I Injection enhances the body's ability to form these essential blood clots, preventing excessive bleeding in individuals with Fibrinogen-I Injection deficiency disorders.

Side Effects

Fibrinogen-I Injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious Allergic Reactions Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) Transfusion-associated circulatory overload (TACO) Transfusion-transmitted infections Thrombosis Fluid overload Common Fever Chills Flushing Nausea Headache Mild allergic reactions (itching, hives)

Expert Tips

Assess patients for allergies and potential allergic reactions before using Fibrinogen-I Injection. Review underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular, liver, or kidney diseases, as these can impact treatment safety and effectiveness. Consider possible medication interactions, especially with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, and adjust dosages if needed. Monitor patients with thrombocytopenia, kidney dysfunction, or those receiving multiple transfusions, as these factors can affect treatment response. Inform patients receiving Fibrinogen-I Injection derived from human plasma about the minimal risk of viral transmission.
