Product Introduction

Fluarix Tetra is a quadrivalent influenza vaccine that protects against four strains of influenza virus: two subtypes of Type A (H1N1 and H3N2) and two lineages of Type B. The vaccine composition includes these four viral strains to provide comprehensive protection against influenza. The vaccine is particularly relevant for high-risk populations including the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic health conditions. In patients who contract influenza despite vaccination, the vaccine can reduce the severity and duration of symptoms, thereby lowering the risk of severe complications and hospitalisation. Fluarix Tetra is approved for individuals aged 6 months and older, with formulations available for both adults and children. Increasing vaccination rates within communities can significantly diminish the spread of influenza, contributing to public health objectives. However, individual health histories must be considered, as some people may experience allergic reactions to vaccine components, particularly egg proteins. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or Guillain-Barré syndrome should consult a healthcare provider before receiving the vaccine. Fluarix Tetra dosage is administered according to age-appropriate recommendations determined by healthcare providers. The vaccine price varies by location and healthcare facility. Fluarix Tetra is available through authorised medical facilities and pharmacies in India. When comparing Fluarix Tetra with Vaxigrip Tetra, individual factors including specific health needs and medical history may influence the choice between them. Both vaccines offer protection against influenza, though suitability may vary depending on patient circumstances.

How it works

Fluarix Tetra Vaccine stimulates the body's immune system to produce an immune response against specific influenza virus strains. Once administered, the vaccine introduces inactivated or weakened forms of the virus or specific viral proteins to trigger the production of antibodies. These antibodies then recognize and bind to the influenza virus if the body is exposed to it in the future.
