Product Introduction
Folvite tablet is a haemopoietic agent containing folic acid as its active ingredient. It is used to treat folic acid deficiency, characterised by low levels of red blood cells in the body. The tablet is also indicated for anaemia in patients undergoing kidney dialysis and for anaemia during pregnancy.
This medicine should be avoided in patients with pernicious anaemia (a disorder that prevents vitamin B12 absorption) or those with vitamin B12 deficiency. Patients who have received a coronary stent (a tube inserted into an artery supplying the heart to prevent blockages) should not take this tablet. If you are undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure, speak with your doctor before starting this medicine. Avoid this tablet if you have cancer, unless your anaemia is specifically due to folic acid deficiency. Extra care is needed in patients with certain tumours. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Folvite tablets may interact with certain medications, including methotrexate, phenytoin, and sulfasalazine. Patients taking these medications should discuss with their doctor before starting this tablet. Inform your doctor if you experience hypersensitive reactions such as itchy skin or rashes while taking this medicine.
Other folic acid supplements such as Folacin, Folvite Plus, or Folimax may be recommended by your doctor as alternatives to Folvite tablets.
This tablet contains lactose as an inactive ingredient. Patients unable to digest lactose (a sugar found in milk and dairy products) may experience bloating and abdominal pain. If you have lactose intolerance, inform your doctor before beginning this therapy.
