Fondum Injection

Fondum Injection contains Fondaparinux Sodium, an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat blood clots. It is administered to patients at risk of deep vein thrombosis, including those undergoing surgical procedures or experiencing prolonged immobilization. The medication also prevents pulmonary embolism, which can develop when a blood clot from the legs or other sites travels to the lungs. It forms part of the treatment regimen for established deep vein thrombosis and may be used alongside other agents in the management of acute coronary syndromes, conditions characterised by diminished blood flow to the heart.

Fondum Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to Fondaparinux Sodium or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with active bleeding disorders, including gastrointestinal bleeding, intracranial bleeding, or other severe bleeding episodes. Patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min) should not receive this medication due to risk of drug accumulation and elevated bleeding risk. Use is generally not recommended in patients with bacterial endocarditis, a serious cardiac infection, as the medication may prove ineffective in preventing clots in this condition.

Caution is advised in patients with a history of ulcerative gastrointestinal disease or other conditions predisposing to gastrointestinal bleeding. Patients with severe hypertension require careful monitoring and potential adjustment of anticoagulant therapy. Use is generally not recommended in children and adolescents owing to limited safety and efficacy data in these age groups. In elderly patients, Fondum Injection may be used but requires caution, as age-related decline in renal function may alter drug clearance.

Caution is needed in cases of renal and hepatic impairment while taking Fondum Injection, and special attention should be given to patients undergoing spinal or epidural procedures due to the potential for hematoma. Monitoring of platelet counts, renal function, and coagulation parameters is essential. Hypersensitivity reactions, pediatric use, and the use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be carefully considered. Elderly patients may require closer monitoring, and potential drug interactions and alcohol consumption should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Patients should exercise caution in activities that may lead to injury due to the increased risk of bleeding.
