Product Introduction

Forxiga tablet is an antidiabetic medication belonging to the sodium-glucose cotransport-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor class, containing dapagliflozin as its active ingredient. It is indicated for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and above. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder marked by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycaemia). This medication is also approved for treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adult patients, helping to improve symptoms and reduce hospitalisation risk related to heart failure. The primary therapeutic action is control of elevated blood glucose in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Use must always be combined with dietary modification and exercise. Your doctor may prescribe this medication alongside other antidiabetic agents when blood sugar remains elevated and inadequately controlled. Do not take this medicine if you have an allergy to dapagliflozin or any other component of the formulation. Inform your doctor if you develop urinary tract infections, as this medicine may increase this risk. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Your doctor will monitor kidney function at least annually, or more frequently if necessary, during treatment with this medicine. If you experience nausea, vomiting, fever, or are unable to eat or drink while taking Forxiga tablet, it is important to notify your doctor immediately. These conditions can result in dehydration, and your doctor may recommend temporarily stopping the medication until recovery is achieved. During treatment with this drug, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) may occur even when blood glucose levels appear normal. If you suspect symptoms consistent with DKA, contact your doctor or attend the nearest hospital immediately.
