Product Introduction

Forxiga 5mg Tablet is an antidiabetic drug belonging to the sodium-glucose cotransport-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor class, containing the active ingredient Dapagliflozin. It is indicated for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients aged 18 years and older. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterised by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia). This drug is also approved for the treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults, where it helps improve symptoms and reduce the risk of hospitalisation for heart failure. The primary action of this drug is to control elevated blood glucose levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes. It is always used in combination with diet and exercise. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine alongside other antidiabetic medications when blood sugar remains elevated and inadequately controlled. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Forxiga 5mg Tablet or any of its other ingredients. Inform your doctor if you develop urinary tract infections, as this medicine may increase the risk of UTI. This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years. Your doctor will assess kidney function at least once yearly or more frequently while you are taking this medicine. If you experience nausea, vomiting, fever, or are unable to eat or drink whilst taking Forxiga 5mg Tablet, it is important to inform your doctor. These conditions can lead to dehydration, and your doctor may recommend temporary discontinuation of the medication until you have recovered. Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) can occur when taking this drug, even when blood glucose levels are normal. If you suspect symptoms of DKA, contact your doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.
