Product Introduction
Fosaport 150mg Injection is an antiemetic medication containing fosaprepitant dimeglumine. It is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. The injection is not recommended for children under six months of age or weighing less than 6kg. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking, including supplements and herbal medicines, prior to receiving Fosaport 150mg Injection. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives; discuss alternative contraceptive methods with your doctor. Before receiving this injection, inform your doctor if you have liver disorders, allergic conditions, or other medical conditions. Common side effects include indigestion, tiredness, headache, and loss of appetite.
Uses
Fosaport 150mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following: Acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy (HEC), including high-dose cisplatin. Delayed nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy (MEC).
How it works
Fosaport 150mg Injection works by being converted into aprepitant, a selective antagonist of neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptors in the brain. It blocks substance P from binding to these receptors, preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). Aprepitant also enhances the effectiveness of other antiemetic drugs, such as ondansetron and dexamethasone, inhibiting both the acute and delayed phases of emesis caused by chemotherapy agents like cisplatin.
