Product Introduction

Gabantin 300mg Capsule contains the active substance Gabapentin, an anticonvulsant belonging to the class of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogs. It is indicated for neuropathic pain, anxiety disorders, and seizures in patients with epilepsy.

Gabantin 300mg Capsule treats neuropathic pain, including postherpetic neuralgia and nerve pain following shingles infection, as well as other forms of neuropathic pain. It functions as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures, with or without secondary generalisation, in adults and children aged 3 years and older. Gabantin 300mg Capsule is also used in the management of anxiety disorders as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Before commencing Gabantin 300mg Capsule, inform your doctor if you have hypersensitivity to Gabapentin or any ingredients in the capsule, or if you have renal impairment, pulmonary inflammation, or neuropsychiatric conditions. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience dizziness, oedema, unexplained fatigue, coordination difficulties, or visual disturbances. Gabantin 300mg Capsule may cause serious adverse effects, including respiratory difficulty, severe cutaneous reactions, or signs of infection such as fever, unusual bleeding, or bruising.

Do not discontinue Gabantin 300mg Capsule abruptly, as this may increase seizure frequency in patients with epilepsy. Healthcare providers should monitor patients for signs of suicidal ideation or behaviour, particularly at treatment initiation. Gabantin 300mg Capsule may induce dizziness or somnolence; patients should refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery until the effects of the medication are fully understood.

Uses

The uses of Gabantin 300mg Capsule are: Neuropathic pain (e.g., postherpetic neuralgia in adults) Partial onset seizures (with and without secondary generalisation) in adults and pediatric patients aged 3 years and older with epilepsy Other forms of neuropathic pain Seizure management

How it works

Gabantin 300mg Capsule binds strongly to the α2δ subunit of voltage-activated calcium channels, contributing to its pain-relieving and seizure-controlling effects, although the exact mechanism remains unclear.

How to Use

For Gabantin 300mg Capsule, treatment typically begins with a low dose, such as 300 mg on Day 1 for Postherpetic Neuralgia, with gradual increases over the following days. Dosing adjustments are made based on the patient's response and condition. In patients with reduced renal function, the dose of Gabantin 300mg Capsule should be adjusted, regardless of the formulation. Consult your healthcare provider for personalised dosing recommendations and adjustments based on your specific condition and renal function.
