Product Introduction

Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet contains the active substance Gabapentin. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that belongs to the class of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogs. It treats neuropathic pain, anxiety disorders, and seizures in patients with epilepsy. Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet treats neuropathic pain, including postherpetic neuralgia, nerve pain following shingles infection, and other forms of nerve pain. It also works as an adjunctive treatment for partial-onset seizures, with or without secondary generalisation, in both adults and children aged 3 years and older. Additionally, Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet helps manage anxiety disorders as part of a broader treatment plan. Before using Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have allergies to Gabapentin or any ingredients in the tablet, or if you have kidney problems, lung inflammation, or neuropsychiatric conditions. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience dizziness, swelling, unexplained fatigue, coordination issues, or vision problems. Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet may cause serious side effects, including difficulty breathing, severe skin reactions, or signs of infection such as fever, unusual bleeding, or bruising. Do not stop taking Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet suddenly, as this may increase seizure frequency in patients with epilepsy. Healthcare providers should monitor patients for any signs of suicidal thoughts or behaviours, especially at the start of treatment. Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so patients should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until they understand how the medication affects them.

Uses

The uses of Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet are: Neuropathic pain (e.g., postherpetic neuralgia in adults) Partial onset seizures (with and without secondary generalisation) in adults and pediatric patients aged 3 years and older with epilepsy Other forms of neuropathic pain Seizure management

How it works

Gabapentin binds strongly to the α2δ subunit of voltage-activated calcium channels, contributing to its pain-relieving and seizure-controlling effects, although the exact mechanism remains unclear.

How to Use

For Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet, treatment typically begins with a low dose, such as 300 mg on Day 1 for Postherpetic Neuralgia, with gradual increases over the following days. Dosing adjustments are made based on the patient's response and condition. In patients with reduced renal function, the dose of Gabantin GRS 600mg Tablet should be adjusted, regardless of the formulation. Consult your healthcare provider for personalised dosing recommendations and adjustments based on your specific condition and renal function.
