Product Introduction
Glenza 80mg Capsule contains enzalutamide, an antineoplastic medicine that belongs to the class of androgen receptor inhibitors. It is prescribed for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, particularly in patients whose disease has progressed despite surgical or hormone-based therapies. This medicine works by blocking the effects of male hormones (androgens), helping to slow the growth and spread of prostate cancer cells.
Do not take Glenza 80mg Capsule if you are allergic to enzalutamide or any of its ingredients. During treatment, your doctor may regularly monitor your condition through prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, liver function tests, and complete blood count (CBC) to evaluate treatment response and detect potential side effects. Patients with a history of seizures should use this medicine with caution, as enzalutamide may increase the risk of seizures.
Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Glenza 80mg Capsule, as it may increase the amount of the medicine in your bloodstream and raise the risk of side effects. This medicine can harm an unborn baby and may affect fertility. Inform your doctor if you have any fertility concerns before starting treatment. Effective contraception is recommended during treatment and for 3 months after the last dose to prevent pregnancy. Always use this medicine exactly as prescribed and attend regular follow-up appointments for safe and effective treatment.
Uses
Advanced prostate cancer
How it works
It works by inhibiting the active form of testosterone, called dihydrotestosterone. It selectively blocks the androgen receptors and disrupts the translocation of signals from the receptor to the cell. Thus, the androgen hormone does not bind to the androgen receptors and these androgen receptors do not interact with DNA. This blocks the functioning of cancer cells and reduces its multiplication.
How to Use
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Glenza 80mg capsule based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The standard dose for this drug is 160 mg taken once daily, with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the capsule. Swallow the whole capsule with water. If you forgot to take the capsule, simply take your next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
