Product Introduction

Grafalon 20mg Injection contains the active component thymoglobuline. It belongs to a group of medicines called immunosuppressants (anti-rejection medicines). These medicines help prevent rejection of transplanted organs and can also be used to treat other unwanted immune reactions. It is also used in the treatment of moderate to severe aplastic anaemia (bone marrow failure) in patients unsuitable for bone marrow transplantation. Thymoglobuline is produced by injecting human thymus cells into rabbits. It is used especially in patients who have undergone kidney or heart transplant procedures to prevent rejection of the transplanted organ. Additionally, it is employed in treating kidney transplant rejection in patients who do not respond to corticosteroid treatment. Grafalon 20mg Injection is not recommended if you are allergic to thymoglobuline, rabbits, or any of the other ingredients. It is not advised if you have a severe infection, as Grafalon 20mg Injection decreases your body's ability to fight infections. Inform your doctor if you have any blood disorder, fever, or infection before this treatment. Do not receive vaccination during or soon after treatment with this medication without discussing it with your doctor. Before starting treatment, provide a detailed account of your medical history and current medications.

How it works

Grafalon 20mg Injection (ATI) contains antibodies that bind to specific immune cells involved in organ rejection or unwanted immune reactions. By targeting these cells, ATI suppresses the immune response, aiding in the acceptance of transplanted organs and treating conditions like aplastic anaemia. It achieves this by depleting circulating lymphocytes, particularly T lymphocytes, through various mechanisms such as complement-dependent lysis and activation-induced apoptosis. Additionally, ATI may induce T lymphocyte anergy, further contributing to immunosuppression.

How to Use

Grafalon 20mg Injection will be given to you by your healthcare provider in a hospital. It is injected directly into a vein (intravenous infusion) through a plastic tube (catheter). Your healthcare provider determines the dose, duration, and frequency based on your age, body weight, and severity of your condition.
