Product Introduction

Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet contains Vildagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500mg. It is indicated for management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, a chronic condition affecting blood glucose processing. The medication helps control elevated blood sugar levels and may improve insulin sensitivity in patients with insulin resistance. It can be used to manage blood sugar levels in individuals with overweight and obesity-related metabolic disorders.

Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to Vildagliptin, Metformin, or any inactive ingredient in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min), as the kidneys are the primary route of excretion and clearance is reduced in renal dysfunction. Patients with a history of ketoacidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or lactic acidosis should not use this medication. It is not recommended for patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Conditions associated with tissue hypoxia are contraindications, including heart failure, respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction, and shock. In patients requiring iodinated contrast agents for radiological procedures, this medication should be discontinued before or at the time of the procedure and not restarted until at least 48 hours after, provided renal function has been re-evaluated and confirmed to be stable.

Elderly patients may be more susceptible to adverse effects of this medication, particularly those related to renal function. Regular monitoring of kidney function is essential in this population. Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet is not recommended for use in children.

Uses

Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus Control of hyperglycemia Improvement of insulin sensitivity Weight management

How it works

Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet works by combining the mechanisms of its two active ingredients, Vildagliptin and Metformin, to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin functions by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which increases active incretin hormone levels, stimulating insulin secretion and reducing glucagon release. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, enhances peripheral glucose uptake, and improves insulin sensitivity through AMPK activation. This combined action helps regulate blood sugar levels through complementary pathways.

How to Use

Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet is administered orally as tablets. The recommended starting dosage and any necessary dose adjustments are determined based on the specific condition being treated and the patient's response to the medication.

Side Effects

Hosvilda M 50/500mg Tablet causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious Lactic acidosis Severe allergic reactions Common Gastrointestinal disturbances Hypoglycemia Headache Dizziness Weakness or fatigue Metallic taste in the mouth
