Product Introduction

Icufos 4gm Injection contains Fosfomycin, a phosphonic antibiotic. It is indicated for treatment of bacterial infections, particularly uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women caused by susceptible bacteria. The drug is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is also used for prophylaxis of infection before prostate surgical procedures in adult men. Administration before surgery can help reduce the risk of post-operative infections.

Patients with a history of diarrhoea following antibiotic use should inform their physician prior to initiating treatment. Certain antibiotics, including this drug, can cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhoea, and this information assists the doctor in assessing potential risks or alternatives.

Icufos 4gm Injection is generally not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Safety and efficacy in younger children have not been well-established, and therefore use is usually avoided in this age group.

Some formulations of this drug contain sucrose. Patients with known intolerance to certain sugars, such as lactose or sucrose, should inform their doctor. The physician can verify the medication's ingredients to ensure safe use.

Patients should contact their physician immediately if unexpected side effects or adverse reactions develop during treatment. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy should consult their physician for advice before taking Icufos 4gm Injection. Physicians prescribe this medicine only when clinically indicated.
